DCD998 vs DCD999

DCD998 VS DCD999

A power drill is among the most flexible power tools you will find on the market. Its function is to drill holes, stir mortar, drive screws, and so on.

You have several options when you require making holes on a workpiece or wall. For instance, you could opt for brute force, like using a hammer and nail. Prevalently, with this technique, you don't have control of the hole's depth.

The best idea would be to go for a power tool that's explicitly engineered for this task; a power drill. You'll be amazed by how easy it is to drill holes of different sizes with a drill. The best part is that you'll do this and keep your thumbs pain-free.

Again, drills can play other roles, like removing and driving screws, and stirring motor, regardless of the type of head and size of the screws. That said, we will compare the DCD998 vs. DCD999 to see which one is better.

Exactly what I needed. Great to use as a screwdriver, drill, and drilling in concrete/brick. I used it to drill in brick, and it worked like a charm.

Sturdy, and it works well. My only complaint is the forward-reverse switch is a little flimsy. It seems like they're like that on all of the Dewalt products. They work; it just feels flimsy to me

Haven’t had it for very long, so no comment on longevity. Powerful and built sturdy, no complaints for normal home use.

Overview

The DCD999 is an embodiment of the new line of cordless drills. These tools are so potent that you must be cautious to avoid over-drilling or snapping the fastener's head as you drive it in.

To avoid wear and tear and guarantee safety, the controls on this drill are regulated through a transmission and the 11-placement clutch ring. This comes in handy in regulating the torque setting present.

The larger the figure displayed on the clutch ring, the more the torque this power tool delivers before cutting out. Hence, this feature is helpful since it hinders you from driving the bolt right through the material you're looking to fasten.

The DCD999 impressive power delivery is a blend of a potent battery and the 20V brushless motor. The torque is transmitted through a 3-mode transmission to the chuck. The three-speed settings are;

  • 0 to 450 RPM
  • 0 to 1300RPM
  • 0 to 2000RPM

In tandem with the clutch ring, this handy feature lets you drive and drill with incredible accuracy in masonry, wood, and metal.

The other impressive feature of the DCD999 is that it holds any bit tightly, allowing you to experience the complete effect of this power tool's control and power. That said, it's prevalent that in the event the bit slips when drilling, the power this tool delivers will be wasted.

Lastly is the 3-mode LED light that allows you to work in dark spaces conveniently. Besides, the spotlight mode has a 20-minute shutdown feature, allowing for extended use. Again, it's 20 times brighter than the DCD985.

Overall, I felt that the DCD999 is tough and durable. Besides, it came in handy when ice fishing, even at night, thanks to the LED light.

Which one is better?

The DCD999 and DCD998 are very much alike; however, the DCD999 comes with the FlexVolt advantage, which makes it the better option.

While the DCD998 can perform heavy-duty work, it won't be as efficient as the DCD999 due to the FlexVolt pack. Besides, it is cheaper than the DCD998. Also, it is compatible with the tool connect chip. Hence. The DCD999 is a much better option than the DCD998.
